BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha UK
Registers Donors For The Anthony Nolan Trust
Sunday 29 March 2009

The annual ‘Yogi Yuva Cup’ cricket tournament was held on Sunday 29 March 2009 at BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, London and Harrow Leisure Centre, London. The tournament attracts teams from across the UK where adults between the ages of 23-40 years battle to win the coveted trophy.

This year’s event proved as successful as anticipated with 32 teams competing from across the UK and a series of thrilling final-ball victories that culminated in the ‘India Sevaks’ team lifting the beautiful trophy after 11 hours of batting and bowling.

In addition to the great spectacle of the tournament, BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha had organised a facility for The Anthony Nolan Trust to set up a clinic at Harrow Leisure Centre to collect blood and register donors. The Anthony Nolan Trust (ANT) is a charity that helps to find donors for people suffering from leukaemia. This year, BAPS is working with ANT to raise money and awareness at its Annual Sponsored Walk & Fun Run to be held at various BAPS Centres across the UK on Sunday 26 April 2009. An impressive total of 60 people from BAPS registered as donors and provided blood samples on the day.

The occasion proved to be an overwhelming success for players, spectators and The Anthony Nolan Trust.
